                    Resource and Funds Development Position Description

Sponsor Name: Saving Our Sisters, Inc

VISTA Project Name: Volunteer Maryland

VISTA Project Goal Statement:  In efforts to transition homeless women recovering from the disease of addiction from poverty to self efficacy, the VISTA member will develop systems for resource and fund development that will build capacity, expand services and promote sustainability.

Duties:

· Develop new and imaginative fundraising activities/ events

· Organize traditional activities

· Develop and Coordinate web-based fundraising

· Increase funds through research and targeting foundations, charitable trusts

· Develop strategy for corporate sponsorships

· Grant Writing

· Managing/ Updating donor database

Qualifications:

·Idealistic/ Flexible/ Creative/ Ability to Take Initiative

·Excellent Oral/ Written Skills

·Experience in Excel/ Access

·Experience Fundraising/ Grant Writing/ Event Planning

·Experience Recruiting/ Training Volunteers

Selection Process: Applicants must apply on-line application at https://my.americorps.gov by June 12, 2009.  The process includes a written application, professional references, and criminal background check.  Applicants will be interviewed and references will be checked by the Sponsor agency.

Minimum Enrollment Requirements:  To enroll, members must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and be a US citizen or permanent legal resident.  Members must also attest that they will not work outside of the VISTA placement or enroll in school at any level during the term. 

Orientation and Training:  All VISTA members attend a mandatory Pre-Service Orientation facilitated by the Corporation for National and Community Service.  The Sponsor agency will provide all on-site orientation and training necessary to complete the VISTA assignment.   

Supervision and Evaluation:  The Sponsor will provide day-to-day supervision and evaluate performance in accordance with the agency’s policies and VISTA requirements. 

Hours:  Full-time AmeriCorps«VISTA members are required to serve approximately five days and 40 hours each week.  Members are also required to be “on call” as required by the Sponsor agency.
