Saving Our Sisters, Inc. is pleased to announce its open call for nominations to its Board of Directors – the official leadership and governing body of the organization. We are seeking members who share an interest in working to promote, support and guide Saving Our Sisters, Inc. to achieve its vision of empowering women with a comprehensive approach to overcome active addiction and become productive members of their families and communities.
Saving Our Sisters, Inc. illustrates a community-based approach toward substance abuse abstinence. In the S.O.S. program design, residents have a greater opportunity to develop a sense of competence toward maintaining abstinence by receiving support from peers. The involvement in the course of action plan after attending a 28 day treatment facility encourages the individual to learn how to cope effectively and independently with stressful situations that often contribute to substance abuse. This sense of self-efficacy in turn reduces the risk of relapse when women would otherwise return to former high-risk situations. Board members must embrace the diversity and core values of Saving Our Sisters, Inc. This is a leadership level volunteer position.
This 2011-2012 BoD Recruitment and Nomination Packet includes all the information needed to nominate oneself or someone else to the Board of Directors for Saving Our Sisters, Inc (SOS). Acceptance as a new member of the SOS BoD is contingent on successfully completing 3 steps:
- Completion of this application
- Attendance at a SOS Open House
- Receiving a majority vote of acceptance by existing BoD members.
